International Applicants

We welcome international applicants for graduate study at St. Catherine University. Please review the information below regarding additional application materials that may be required for international applicants.


Earlier deadlines may apply for international applicants to ensure that all immigration requirements can be met in time for you to enroll in the desired term.

International student supplement

All international applicants for graduate study must complete the International Student Supplement: Graduate Application for Admission in addition to applying directly to the graduate program. The U.S. government requires international applicants to provide proof of ability to pay tuition and living expenses before the University can issue forms necessary to obtain a visa. The International Student Supplement includes the required Certification of Finances form. 

Applicants for the following programs must submit the International Student Supplement, but do not need to complete the Certificate of Finances section of the form:

• Education: Curriculum & Instruction (MAED)
• Montessori: AM2 (MAED)
• Occupational Therapy: Post-professional (OTD)

Application fee

The graduate application fee varies depending on the program to which you are applying. There is no additional application fee associated with submitting the International Student Supplement.

Educational documentation

All applicants for graduate study must provide proof of graduation from a post-secondary institution, with records of coursework completed and grades/levels achieved. All documents must be original or certified photocopies. Any document in a language other than English must be accompanied by an official English translation completed by a certified, professional translator.

Transcripts of work completed in the United States must be mailed directly from the U.S. institution to the Office of Graduate Admission (see address below).

Applicants with a college or university degree completed outside of the U.S. must submit an official evaluation of foreign credentials by World Education Services. All costs related to document translation and evaluation are the applicant’s responsibility.

English proficiency

Applicants whose native language is not English are required to complete the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 600 on the paper-based test or 100 on the iBT, or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 7.5. This requirement is waived for applicants who have completed a baccalaureate or graduate degree in the United States.

Submitting materials

Please submit the International Student Supplement to the Office of Graduate Admission (review your program-specific application instructions for submitting educational documentation and test scores). The admission committee will not review your application until we have received all required documents.
