Program of Study: Certificate Options

Certificates from the MAOL program provide a focused approach to advanced leadership education. It's a flexible option in which you'll take fewer courses than students pursuing the full Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership degree. A certificate may be right for you if you:

  • Are not yet ready to pursue a full master's degree, or
  • Already hold a master's or doctoral degree, or simply
  • Want a shorter course of study that will add advanced leadership skills to your portfolio.

Certificate students often choose, at a later date, to continue on with the full MAOL degree. Scroll down to see details on each of our six certificate options, which require five to seven courses (15-18 credits):

  • Ethics and Leadership
  • Healthcare Leadership
  • Information Services and Technology
  • Library Leadership
  • Spirituality and Leadership
  • Strategic Management

Custom Certificate in Organizational Leadership

Major corporations and nonprofits — including Wells Fargo, Fairview Health Services, and Allina Health — have partnered with St. Catherine University to offer "custom certificates" for their employees. Custom certificates are a solution for organizations seeking to:

  • Develop a cohort of leaders from across an organization — a supportive network that shares common leadership concepts and abilities.
  • Motivate employees to apply what they've learned in the classroom and infuse new knowledge into the organization.
  • Reflect the organization's unique values for effective, ethical leadership, and strengthen the organization's assets for critical thinking, financial acumen, decision-making and communication.

Custom certificates consist of three graduate-level courses (nine credits). A core course in ethics and leadership is matched with two other courses selected from the MAOL curriculum.

Courses can be delivered on-site — St. Kate's will brings its highly regarded faculty and curriculum directly into the organization. Courses generally begin in September and continue into the following year.

If you are interested in building leadership in your organization, contact Val Krech (651-690-6420 or vakrech@stkate.edu) about partnering with St. Kate's on a custom certificate.
