Anyone can write a grant proposal, but winning proposals come from project directors (PD) and researchers (PI) who commit sufficient time for project design and development; literature review; project team assembly and funding source selection, in addition to the time required for proposal writing, review and improvement. It takes 90 to 180 hours to write a proposal, but three to six months to develop a winning project design and plan.
