Budget Process

The duties of a program director/department chair usually include fiscal responsibilities. Responsibilities include:

  • tracking the budget and expenses of your department
  • Report any over- or –under-spending in variance reports
  • Put together a budget for next year.

The University's fiscal year begins on June 1 and ends on May 31. The budget process begins in the fall, when the schedule is outlined and materials are developed. Soon after the end of the second quarter in late November, the budgeting process starts.
