Academic Advising

Academic Advising for Baccalaureate Day and Evening/Weekend/Online Students

The purpose of Academic Advising is to guide students to become self-directed learners and decision makers who demonstrate ethical leadership, grounded in social responsibility. Through collaborative mentoring relationships among the student, the academic advisor, faculty and staff, academic advising empowers students to develop and implement sound educational plans that are consistent with their academic, personal and professional goals.

Academic Advising can assist St. Paul students with the following:

  • Choose a major
  • Develop a plan to complete degree requirements
  • Find or change your advisor
  • Referrals to other campus departments to meet your goals
  • Address concerns with courses or instructors
  • Cope with academic stress
  • Take a leave of absence or withdrawing from classes
  • Find out who can help you if we can't
