Kristina Poss, '14,  collaborated with chemistry professor Kim Ha in Fall 2013. The purpose of their research was to study a protein called phospholamban (PLN), which is known to be involved in heart failure and impact cardiac contractility. They are investigated several PLN mutants to see if they can be cloned, expressed, purified, and how they interact with their main regulatory enzymes in hopes to make a contribution to the understanding of PLN and heart failure.

Kristina had the following to say about her AMP experience: "Participating in collaborative research through the AMP program has provided me with the opportunity to refine and learn additional lab and research techniques, and explore a topic of significant interest to me that may impact the field of medicine, where I will work in the future as a physician."
