St. Kate's offers both a coding specialist program and a basic medical coding program, both of which lead to a certificate.

Course Schedule

Classes are offered in the late afternoons and evenings, so you can continue a career or other responsibilities while in the program. Selected courses are available for earning continuing education units. Professional practice experience will include daytime hours.

Coding Specialist

At St. Kate's you can earn a certificate in two years, part time, to become a coding specialist. The coding specialist program includes course work in:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Pathology and medical terminology
  • Coding using ICD and CPT, including the relationship between coding and reimbursement

You'll also obtain professional practice experience with coding in a healthcare facility.
