There is a faculty workshop on Positioning Your Community-Engaged Work for Promotion and Tenure. It will be led by Dr. Cathy Jordan, director of the Children, Youth, and Family Consortium and associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities; she is also the editor of CES4Health.info and a long-time leader in faculty development through Community-Campus Partnerships for Health. I'll also be there to support the discussion.
The workshop will:
- review challenges that community-engaged scholars face, and in particular, challenges posed by the traditional promotion and tenure process; and
present strategies for making your best case for promotion or tenure as a community-engaged scholar and some concrete tips for preparing your promotion dossier.
(Please note that this workshop is tailored for a faculty audience, but staff who work closely with faculty on civic and community engagement are also welcome.)
It will take place on Friday, December 6 from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. on the University of St. Thomas' St. Paul campus--specifically, in the Anderson Student Center, room 234. Light refreshments will be served. While there is no charge to attend, we greatly appreciate RSVPs to ServiceLearn@stthomas.edu.
