St. Kate’s offers licensure in these areas:

Elementary K–6

Endorsement options for K-6 licensure

For students who are working toward a teaching license, or who have already completed a teaching degree, St. Kate’s offers two teaching endorsements.

Students are required to complete the following courses:

  • FACS 3350: Child in the Family
  • EDUC 2110: Foundations and Theories in Early Childhood

Middle-level (grades 5–8)
Students may choose one of these areas:

  • Communication arts and literature (includes six courses from the English and communication departments)
  • Mathematics (includes four math courses)
  • Science (includes two courses each in chemistry, biology and physics)
  • Social studies (includes one course each in economics, geography, political science and sociology, and two history courses in history)

Secondary (grades 5–12)

  • Communication arts and literature
  • Family and consumer science
  • Mathematics
  • Social studies

Secondary (grades 9–12)

  • Chemistry
  • Life science (Biology) 

 Kindergarten–Grade 12

  • Physical education
  • Visual arts
  • World languages and culture: Spanish
  • School library media specialist
