Construction and capital improvements must be requested in writing as part of the annual budget process. Decisions on requests for funding are made by the finance officer of the college in collaboration with the Cabinet. Request submitted at other times are typically considered in the next budget cycle. There is a capital request form in the annual budget materials.
A supervisory staff member is assigned to manage new construction and renovation projects for all classrooms, offices, and buildings. This manager is responsible for planning and carrying out projects, and is usually the first and continual contact for all matters related to the particular project.
Responsibilities of the supervisory staff member include:
- Coordinate planning and design involving occupants or users, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, etc., as required
- Coordinate and verify budgets and schedules
- Coordinate, verify, and determine finishes consistent with University standards
- Coordinate with other University services: (e.g., IT, Audio-Visual, B&G, Custodial, Security, etc.)
