The LEAD (Leadership, Encouragement, Assistance and Development) Team is an 8-12 person student team that creates innovative ways to assist St. Kate's students in identifying and developing their leadership potential. There is no hierarchy and each member has equal power and responsibility.

The LEAD Team provides leadership training through various on-campus projects and workshops. Any organization or entity on campus can contact the LEAD Team to have a workshop done for that group.

The LEAD Team believes leadership is a continuum in which being both a leader and a follower are equally valuable, achieving the greatest results by working together in a collaborative environment. We hold that leadership is not strictly positional, but that anyone can become a leader and exercise leadership from both an individual role and as a member of a team.

Mission

We, the LEAD Team, are dedicated to empowering students within the St Kate's community by promoting leadership, encouraging personal growth, and developing life-long leadership skills through personal assessment and group development.

St. Kate’s Leadership Statement

St. Catherine University is committed to the development of ethical, effective and enduring leaders.  As life-long learners in a multicultural global community, St. Catherine leaders work to enrich the knowledge, refine the skills and clarify attitudes essential for responsible action.  In varied roles and settings, the St. Catherine leader:

  • lives a commitment to the values of justice and caring,
  • thinks critically and creatively,
  • acts from a strong self-concept and inspires others to act,
  • collaborates effectively within diverse groups,
  • takes risks willingly,
  • exercises power and uses resources wisely,
  • articulates a positive sense of direction,
  • and evokes hope.

Definition of Leadership by the LEAD Team

The LEAD Team believes leadership is a continuum in which being both a leader and a follower are equally valuable, achieving the greatest results by working together in a collaborative environment. We hold that leadership is not strictly positional, but that anyone can become a leader and exercise leadership from both an individual role and as a member of a team.
