All academic programs at St. Kate’s emphasize the integration of the liberal arts and focus on ethical decision-making based in Catholic Social Teaching. The MLIS program is no different. Our 800-plus alumnae and current students can attest to this.
Our ALA-accredited Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program has a strong legacy in community-based library education, dating back to 1917. The baccalaureate library and information degree that St. Kate’s offered for decades evolved into a master’s-level program affiliated with Dominican University in 1991, and has been operating independently since 2008.
Our curriculum integrates the principles, practices and ethics of library and information science with an in-depth understanding of the people who use information systems in their work and communities. Classes meet on our St. Paul campus.
