Clinical Experiences and Research
Clinical experiences are a vital part of our program. St. Kate's has partnerships with 900 clinical training sites throughout the Twin Cities, including Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Ramsey County Nursing Service, Children's of Minnesota and the University of Minnesota Medical Center–Fairview.
This means you have many opportunities to apply your knowledge in different areas, such as medical-surgical, maternity, pediatric, psychiatric and public health nursing.
You also have access to the nursing laboratory on campus to practice assessment and psychomotor skills. The lab has areas resembling community-based and hospital settings — inviting you to simulate treatments with other nursing students role-playing as patients.
St. Kate's Assistantship Mentoring Program pairs juniors and seniors with faculty or staff mentors on specific projects. Nursing major Berline Guillaume, for example, worked with Professors Margaret Pharris and Avonne Yang on a diabetes research project at NorthPoint Health Center.
