Caecilian Hall Information
Welcome to the Caecilian Hall! This page outlines all of the amenities, services, and community policies that you need to know about before moving onto campus.
Your room comes with cable service, at no additional cost. You do not need to sign up for this service, but you do need a gold-plated coaxial cable to plug into the cable outlet from your TV. You can purchase coaxial cables from electronic or discount retail stores for around $10-20. Once you get to campus and plug into cable it may be necessary to re-program your TV with your remote control. If you experience problems with your cable service, please contact the Help Desk at 651.690.6402 or submit a Work Request Ticket.
The computer lab is located on the first floor. The lab printer is networked, so you can send print jobs to the printer from your personal computer from anywhere in the building. Instructions for connecting to the printer in your building are available in the computer lab or through the Help Desk online guides. To report a computer or printer problem and to request ink or paper for a computer lab printer, please call 651.690.6402 or submit a Work Request Ticket.
Community and University Policies
It is your responsibility to read and follow all University policies, including those specifically for the residence halls. The Student Code of Conduct and the Residence Life Community Policies outline your rights and responsibilities as a student.
Duty Staff - On Call Resident Advisors
After business hours and on weekends, there is a designated Resident Advisor (RA) on-call for your building. The RA responds to lock-outs, facilities concerns and emergencies. You can reach the RA by calling 651.324.2358
Ethernet Network Service
To activate the Ethernet port in your room, at no additional charge, please log-in to My Housing and submit the request form. Once your port is activated Residence Life will contact you with additional set-up information.
Washers and dryers are available on the first floor of your building. There is no cost to use the machines, but you must provide your own HE Energy Efficient laundry detergent. Students are responsible for reporting problems with the machines. Please call MacGray at 800.MAC.GRAY and use their online maintenance ticket system to report issues.
Lofting and Bunking
The University provides lofting and bunking equipment at no additional cost. The use of personally constructed lofts or alternative lofting equipment is not allowed. Loft and bunk kits include bed ends, stabilizing bar, ladder, and safety rail. Lofting and bunking equipment is available for residents on opening day. Signs will be posted in your building informing you about loft/bunk kit storage hours. Once equipment has been checked out to you, you are responsible for returning the kit upon moving out. You are responsible for assembling the loft or bunk. Using less than two people to set-up your loft or bunk may result in bent equipment and damage charges. Please speak to your Resident Advisor if you have questions about lofting or bunking. Students are strongly encouraged to use ladders and safety rails.
Mail for residents will be delivered to your Coeur de Catherine mailbox. New students will receive their mail box number and combination at Orientation.
Maintenance and Repairs
The Facilities Department is available to make repairs and improvements to your living area. Staff is available for after hours emergencies. Students are responsible for reporting all maintenance concerns in a timely manner. Refrigerators and Micro-Fridges
St. Kate's has partnered with Bedloft.com to rent refrigerators and micro-fridges. Stand-alone microwaves are not allowed in Caecilian Hall, but you can rent or purchase a microwave and refrigerator combination unit to use in your room. If you choose to purchase your own unit, it must not exceed 3.6 cubic feet. Bedloft.com offers convenient in-room delivery prior to your arrival, and they have a variety of products to choose from. You can also purchase futons and TV hangers that fit under your loft.
The McGlynn Computer and Technology Center is your one-stop for all technology needs. The wonderful technology staff is responsible for:
- Computer labs and printers
- Network access in all buildings
- Cable television
- Telephones and voice mail
- Computer use policies
- Technology training and workshops
Whether you need assistance hooking up to the net or your television isn't receiving channel 2, the Help Desk is your source for any technology issue. You can reach the Help Desk through many avenues.

To request basic telephone service at no additional cost, please log-in to My Housing and submit the request form. Residence Life will make arrangements and contact you when your phone line is activated. Residence Life can also lend you a phone for the year for free.
